UPDATED 17th Dec 2004 I (Roger) was licensed in 1977 as G8OOW (Class B) and G4IPE (Class A) in 1979. I have used most frequencies/modes in my time, but have preferred bands above 50Mhz including ATV on bands up to 10Ghz. I was one of the founder members of the Louth Radio Club (G4LRC) and was Repeater Keeper/builder of the Lincolnshire Coast 70Cms Repeater GB3LC, also East Lincs Raynet Controller in the late seventies. Now I am mostly active mobile using a Yaesu FT100 on most bands using a Yaesu ATAS 100 HF aerial + dual band VHF/UHF aerial. NOV holder for an internet gateway on 145.3375 Mhz, which is now on the Air! Celia gained her Foundation Licence (M3IPE) in November 2002 & we believe she is only the second foundation licence holder to have operated from Gibraltar!!(ZB3/M3IPE). She became interested in Amateur Radio after meeting me. She has now Passed the Intermediate Licence in March 2004 & holds the callsign 2E0IPE & is now studying for her full advance licence (Ex. RAE). Celia has passed her 5 WPM Morse test on 20th June 2003, Is she the last person to take the test? We go to the meetings at The Eagle Radio Group in Mablethorpe, where we have made quite a few friends. We are both members of the local Hospital Radio Station which is based at Louth County Hospital and is called Spire Hospital Radio. I am the Technical Manager and get called upon when things go wrong and need fixing. Celia presents a Seventies Show every Wednesday evening.

13th JULY was the lucky date for Roger Wilson G4IPE, and Celia Kent , who were married in Louth Registry Office. Among the gathering of some 35 guests were Official witnesses Mick Reeson, G8OOS, and his wife Diane. Roger and Mick were original instigators of the still operational Louth "LC" UHF repeater in 1980. Roger has been instrumental in helping and encouraging newcomers to the hobby for many years by running novice classes and now there is talk of a Foundation Licence course for Celia. The official photographs were taken by David Dunn, VK3DBD/G3SCD, who was visiting the UK for a few weeks. |
